Book of Changes (to the lineup)

February 1st, 2009 · 8:25 am

We’ve got good news and bad news this January. Change is the only constant and it’s definitely true of the I Ching Quartet. We’re losing a couple members to The Wanderlust. Last month, we started laying down tracks for a new album.  With Danahboo moving to Seattle and Teddy One-Note’s possible departure to Europeland, we needed to get these arrangements recorded.  We spent 3 days at Experimental Sound Studio on Ravenswood on the Northside and had an unbelievably good time recording all 10 songs and 2 bonus tracks. We put some photos up on flickr.

We’re looking to get the album ready to release in the spring.

Farewell Ukrainian Village

September 24th, 2008 · 2:58 pm

On the second saddest day ever* in the history of the I Ching Quartet, we had our final rehearsal on the porch at 1133 N Winchester, which had been our home since the beginning.

After practicing to death the sexiest soul song in our repertoire, we played some old favorites for old-times sake. Superhero, Raincoat, & Eleanor — where it all began. Eleanor has never sounded sweeter.

Props to all our homies and tolerant neighbors in Ukrainian Village. Thanks to all the friendly faces, happy barking, toddler dancing, and only calling the cops on us once.

* the saddest day to date was when Ricardo left us to widdle and pick blackberries in Vermont.
